The award winning Archaeology Education Centre and The Rocks Youth Hostel has been built above archaeological remnants of colonial Sydney in The Rocks precinct. The design of the building includes a world-class archaeological education centre, including a large open public area where the most significant remnants are located. The YHA accommodates up to 350 people, providing much needed budget accommodation in The Rocks. Featuring state of the art facilities, spacious communal areas, internet/Wi-Fi, movie room, on-site grocery store, coffee bar and a large rooftop terrace offering spectacular views of Sydney Harbour and the iconic Sydney Opera House.

Breather membranes are an integral part of the modern wall construction. ProctorWrap HP breathable membrane is a fully tested integral component of the Austral bricks Terracade TM has been incorporated into the Terracotta building façade (rainscreen) system as used on the YHA building. Installed on the cold (exterior) side of the insulation, ProctorWrap HP serves as a secondary drainage layer allowing for wind blown rain to drain safely down the exterior face of the membrane plus allowing moist air that has built up inside the building to escape, preventing dew point condensation forming within the wall cavity. Made from a robust polypropylene textile, ProctorWrap HP works in much the same way as Gortex™ fabric – it allows for the controlled escape of vapour from within, whilst restricting the ingress of moisture. ProctorWrap Window Corners and ProctorWrap HP will protect the building fabric and insulation from condensation and related problems such as mould, timber rot, corrosion and loss of thermal resistance and will last the lifetime of the building even in corrosive coastal environments. All ProctorWrap breathable membranes have a vapour resistance of not more than 0.3 MNs/g when tested to AS/NZS 4200.1.
