Correct storage of wine after bottling is essential to preserve it in its best condition and to allow the wine to develop to its full potential. If the wine is stored incorrectly, the subtle flavours and aromas that have been carefully balanced by the winemaker may be spoiled. Dow Styrofoam™ SMTG is the ideal insulation for temperature controlled environments. The combination of low weight, high strength and resistance to deformation under heavy single point loads makes Styrofoam™ uniquely suited to cold store floor construction. In fact, it was one of the important factors in opening the way to today’s lightweight, modular store design with its high-rise racking, dense stacking and greater structural floor loadings. Proctor’s Roofshield has been used to allow the building to breathe, minimising the risk of mould and mildew. During construction and after occupancy, moisture enters the roof cavity by various means. Roofshield is unique in that it allows moisture to continue to filter out to the exterior of the building. Trapped moisture can cause rot, swelling and distortion of timber, corrosion of metal, and the reduction in porous insulation material’s thermal value. The installation of Dow Styrofoam™ Deckmate thermal spacers (strips) on top of each purlin reduces thermal bridging far in excess of the minimum 0.2 m²K/W requirement set by BCA.
