Federation Square is Melbourne’s meeting place and a unique cultural precinct. Bringing together a creative mix of attractions, including the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria), National Design Centre, Australian Racing Museum and Hall of Fame, Melbourne Visitor Centre, along with 15 restaurants, cafes and bars, and function centres.

Due to DOW Styrofoam’s™ superior thermal performance, long term retained ‘R’ value, its high compressive strength and long term compressive creep resistance made it the ideal choice of this major project.

The cell structure of Dow Styrofoam™ enables it to resist all form of water and moisture penetration. The closed cell structure/cell shape results in no voids between cells, the result of an exclusive extrusion process that assures uniform, predictable, stable physical and thermal properties.  Dow Styrofoam™ is a thermoplastic and retreats from fire.  It alsocontains a flame retardant additive to inhibit accidental ignition from small fire sources eg, over-heated wires or welding sparks.

Dow Styrofoam™ is both chemically and physiologically inert. It creates no dust and will not support mould or mildew and is non allergenic.

The compressive properties of any thermal insulation are vital in ensuring long term trouble-free performance of a working floor. Dow Styrofoam™ has best high compressive strength, compressive modulus making it ideal for high traffic areas such at Federation Square
